Small update...

Just a quick update. We are all doing well. Ayana seems to have an ear infection in both ears, respiratory issues with cough and a constantly running nose. Addis is 10 hours ahead of us and we were on a plane for two days so our internal clock is totally messed up. Ayana was up at 2:00 AM but that was ok becasue i was up from midnight to 5:00Am . It's hard to get back on track. I am hoping I can get Ayana into the doctor tomorrow. Despite not feeling well, she is very happy. Savannah is very good with her like I knew she would be and she already loves her daddy.

Our neighbors were awesome when we returned. They had hung a banner above Ayana's room that said, Welcome home Ayana and it had a light that spotlighted it so when we got home we could see it. They also all got together and planned balloons, cake with Ethiopia colors and a dinner. Wow, that was so sweet and unexpected. So cool!

My mom flew in today to see her new grandbaby and to help us get some rest. She is already cooking up a storm. Gotta love it!

I promise to post about the trip after I get some rest.

She is soooo cute!! It's sweet she's already bonded to her daddy. Both of them asleep. That's just what everyone needs.

I hope you get to see the doc tommorow.

Welcome home! Your daughter is beautiful! Ella came home with the same crud--the ears and the chest congestion. It is no fun seeing your baby sick but I am glad she is happy. It took us about two weeks to get into a normal sleep routine. I am glad your mom is there to help. Enjoy being home with your sweet baby.

She is so gorgeous! I am so jealous that Mom gets to be down there with you guys for a while! I want to call you but I am afraid that you will be exhausted or will be sleeping--if you are up all night then when do you sleep? I am jealous but I am glad that Mom is there to help make sure you can get some rest! I love you guys and miss you so much! I WISH I WAS THERE SO BAD!!!

Hi Amber,

So glad to hear all is well and everyone is home safe and sound. She reminds me so much of Weredesh with her petite little features!

Just a suggestion for when you go to the doctor...Weredesh also had ear infections in both ears and at the orphanage they had been giving her amoxicillin which did not work. When we got home the pediatrician put her on a different stronger antibiotic to find that it didn't work either. After doing an ear culture we found she had a rare bacterial infection that normal antibiotics couldn't kill. They ended up giving her some drops that are used for eye infections but can be used on the ear. They cleared up in about a week after getting the right treatment. Since they were both in the same orphanage, you might ask them to do an ear culture rather than waste a few weeks on an antibiotic that might not work. Let me know if you need more information, such as the name of the antibiotic drops and I'll get it for you. CONGRATS AGAIN!!!!!
