DFW Ethiopia Babies!

So we had a wonderful weekend. We met for our monthly gathering with the DFW Ethiopia adoption group. Thank you to Amanda for hosting. It was really great to see all of the families and meet their children that they have adopted from Ethiopia. The group is growing fast. It's so great to see so many families adopting.

The Reeves family drove up from Austin to go to the dinner and they stayed with us. They are a great couple. We got along so great. They got home a few months ago with their beautiful baby girl, Gabre. She is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen! Leah and Scott are full of good information and they gave us a lot of good tips for when we travel. Hooray for a supportive adoption community and new friendships!

Gabre is so cute in her sun dresses. It inspired me to do a little window shopping! I love little girls!

Hope fully soon we will have our own little one. In the meantime, I miss my other baby, Savannah. Well, my 12 year old baby. She has been gone for almost 4 weeks visiting relatives and she went to church camp in KS. I miss her so bad! She will be home on Tuesday. Yeah!

I am so glad to hear that the meeting went well. The pictures are ADORABLE! I love the smile on Rick's face, I can only imagine how much bigger it is going to be when he is holding his own little girl! :) Miss you guys, so glad to hear you had a great weekend. Love you!

We had a great time, thanks again.
You are such a bad shopping influence. Scott keeps telling me Gabre has enough cloths. I go to your blog and I want to buy, buy ,buy. I am going to buy a few of those dresses, don't tell Scott.

Oh my goodness those little dresses are SUPER cute!! Isn't it wonderful to have that adoption community in the flesh? The internet has done wonderful things for adoptive parents but it's not quite the same as having "neighbors" who have been there done that and can offer valuable advice and moral support! One of the great parts about the age gap you're going to have with your kiddos is that everyone is going to dote on lil sis! She is going to be a little diva princess! I can already imagine she's gonna think her big sis is all that and want to be just like her! Daughters are so special! (Sons are blessings too... but not nearly the cute attire to satisfy the need to shop while you wait!!)

Amber,
Gabre was signed on to our agency and was the first baby I saw to be offered. Then when I found out she was going to Leah and family I was so excited. She is such a sweet little girl. How wonderful for you guys to get together like that. I wonder how many people were there that turned out. We just had our annual ET Adopt Picnic and was about 200 turned out. Such a sight to see. It seems normal now to see white folks with Ethiopian babies and children.
About 5 weeks for us to pick up our baby girl. I'm working on her room and HER dresses this week. It is so much fun!! Those dresses you found areamazing.

Hi Amber,

Just saw your post on our adoption blog. Great to meet a fellow Ethiopian adopter. We should be finished with our dossier paperwork in August when we receive USCIS approval, so we are right behind you. Glad you're on Red Letter Campaign!

Here's a link to info about the blog union. The game must be down right now because I'm getting an error message but keep trying it. It's in huntington beach, CA on August 1-3. :)

Amber,

I would love to learn more about your DRW meetup for Ethiopian adoptive families. My husband and I are in the process of adopting from there and want to find other families in the metroplex. Thank you for any help you could offer.
