Laura did a pay if forward gift exchange and I was chosen. She made the cutest baby blanket. I can't wait to see it in person! She is so talented. Thanks, Laura! Now it's time to "Pay It Forward" with one of my blog buddies. If you are interested in playing just leave me a comment and I will have Savannah pick a number randomly and who ever that person is will get something for their little one. The only catch is that if you're picked, you HAVE to Pay it Forward.
Ok, it has been a while since my last FASHION post and a few of you have asked about it. :) Here are my latest finds, and two are on sale! The clothes are from Recurrent Dreams. Of course at this point, I'm only window shopping. No referral, no shopping. Bummer. Anyhoo...maybe someone can enjoy them.
Congrats to Eric and Tara who are in Ethiopia about to bring their new baby boy home. We also got good news from our local Dallas group, "Ethiopia Babies", that the Fournet family have been referred twins and already have a court date set. This is so encouraging. I have been a little in the dumps about how long things are taking but every minute is worth the wait. Thank you Lord for these amazing couples who have such amazing hearts to adopt your children.
Tragic news: At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Thursday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters. To read more you can go to: http://www.stevencurtischapman.com/ and http://rodneyolsen.net/2008/05/tragedy-for-steven-curtis-chapman.html .
This is such a tragedy. Steven Curtis Chapman has done so much for adoption and other causes. Their foundation and ministry - Shaohannah’s Hope - advocates for international adoption.
Praying for the entire Chapman family - especially father, mother, siblings, and the older brother involved in this accidental death. Lord is near. May they experience His presence and redemptive grace during their confusion, anger, mourning and healing.
Below is a video with Steven and a song that he wrote for his adoptive daughter:
First of all, Happy Birthday to the Best Mom in the whole world! I love you!
My daughter, Savannah came home from gymnastics yesterday and was smiling ear to ear. She had acomplished her backhandspring actually multiple in a row. This is something that she has been working on for a long time so it's a big deal. She's in cheer and had to have it down for the tryouts coming up. (So of course while she was in a good mood, I put her to work on some of her chores that were overdue) Today when she got home, I asked her if she could do it on the grass. Because she wasn't at the gym, I told her not to do a triple just one. I'm so proud of you Savannah! I knew you could do it! Check it out:
Congratulations to the Fournet Family who got their referral today. (twins!) They are in our Ethiopia group in Dallas and they hosted a dinner where we tried Ethiopian food for the first time.
We are still waiting for our fingerprints to come back from Homeland Security so our dossier can go to Ethiopia.
No new news for us but one of my blogger buddies just got home with one of the most beautiful baby girls I have ever seen, baby Gabre! Congratulations to Scott and Leah! Check out the Reeves blog.
This is not new but I was watching AI tonight and I was thinking about how much I enjoyed the Annie Lennox performance last month on Idols Give Back. I think she has an amazing voice and it's just her and the piano. I could feel her sincerity as she sang. I don't think the show was as good as last year because they focused too much on the movie stars and not enough on the issues and videos like they showed last year. Regardless, kudos and much appreciation to AI for doing the fundraiser that raised a lot of money. You can watch the Annie Lennox video below: (by the way, I'm a David Cook fan)
Happy Mother's day to all the mom's. This day reminds me of how excited I am to have another baby in my life. I can't wait to add our little girl to our family.
Rick had to go out of town for a business trip today so we celebrated Mother's Day yesterday. He took me on a date to a romantic restaurant. When we came home the pool was lit up and the tiki torches lit around the pool shining onto the pool an waterfalls and candles lit in the gazebo. We slow danced to music and just enjoyed the quiet and each other. He bought me chocolate covered strawberries, my favorite. It was a great night.
Today after Rick got on the plane, Savannah and I went to the mall and went shopping. I bought a pair of shoes, now known as "the Mother's Day shoes. They are not practical at all, and I love them!!!
We went on Saturday to get our fingerprints done at the Homeland Security Office for the adoption paperwork. We arrived when they opened and it was still crowded but we got right in. I hear that it takes 4-6 weeks to get the results/letter back. It gets a little depressing to have to wait for yet another thing but we are getting closer!
Sorry I have been a slacker at blogging. I had a family member pass away last week and things have been on hold and I have been sad and overworked since the funeral trying to catch up from missing work. I promise to return soon with regular blogs. PS Adoption update: We are still waiting for INS approval. Peace and Love until next time.
