Fun, Fun!

Tonight Rick and I met with the group we met online called, Ethiopia Babies. This a is group of people in the Dallas area who have or are adopting from Ethiopia. It was our first time meeting the group. We met at so many neat families and it was nice to talk to couples who know about the adoption process. We also met several kids who have already been adopted, so cute! The event was at Beau and Natalie's house. They had it catered and it was all Ethiopian food. That was the first time I had tried this type of food. The jury is still out on whether we will eat it again but it was a neat experience. Thanks to the whole group for a good time. Here is a picture Savannah took tonight:

Last Thursday and Friday...

Big day in the Boyd household. Savannah did her back handspring with no spotter! Yeah! She has been trying for months to get this down for cheerleading. I'm so proud of her. I took some pictures. She fell a few time but by the end of the session, she had it down. Way to go Savannah!

Addis Ababa

Hi all. You may remember that I wrote about the episode of American Idol that made me cry. If you watch the full video you will see a piece that they do on Addis Ababa. Most of you know that our daughter will be coming from Addis. Watch this video and just try to tell me that you don't want to take all of them home!!! I appreciate AI giving money to Africa. You only have to watch the first 3 minutes of the video.

The exciting "something" we bought for baby!

Ok, as promised, I wanted to share what we bought for the baby. I saw an ad in the paper that a baby furniture store was going out of business. So of course I had to check it out. When I walked into the store, low and behold was the set I had been wanting. Thank you God! I found the cutest nursery furniture for a great price. It's a convertible crib so that we can make it whatever size we need to for growing baby. I'm so excited!!

Drumroll please....

Congrats and Halleluja (halleluyer)

Congratulations to the Albertson's. They are with their precious boy in Ethiopia and will be bringing home their little blessing soon. Also a congrats to Farmboy and Buttercup who are in Ethiopia picking up their two little ones. You guys are in our prayers. How exciting!

I'm back and guess what was in the mail?

Hello Blogger buddies. I haven't blogged in a week or more because I had a family emergency and had to fly to KC. It was a tough week but I'm back. When I returned home I found a letter that we have been waiting on from Homeland Security giving us the Dallas site to get our fingerprints done. I was so excited! The excitement ended soon when we read that you have to have two government id's. Rick only has one and he lost his passport. Oh man, another delay. So any way, we have applied for new id's and we have to wait for them to come in so we can get fingerprinted. GOOD TIMES, how frustrating.
We did buy something exciting for the baby but I will write about that later tonight or tomorrow. It's a surprise...

American Idol Gives Back!

Ok, I have to admit that I'm an American Idol junkie along with other reality shows that I won't admit at this time.
I was watching the American Idol show tonight and they gave a preview of the American Idol Gives Back Show coming on April 9th. They showed a video of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the orphans living on the street. As many of you know, this is where we are adopting from. This is where a portion of the 76 million went that they raised last year. I was crying by the end of the video. It was astonishing and sad as you can imagine. I wanted to take all the orphans home with me. For all the money that American Idol makes, it's good to see that they give back. I couldn't find the video online with tonight's clip but you can watch the general clip (click here) for the upcoming event. If you have TIVO or DVR, make sure you watch the American Idol Addis Ababa piece from tonight.

Below is the video with Carrie Underwood from last year's Idol's Give Back when she went to Africa.

New Finds

I can't help myself. Shopping takes my mind off the WAIT. Even more sad, I'm only "window shopping". There is no point in me buying since we don't have our referral yet. So I will continue to just play pretend for now.

SO darn cute!!!

The latest news on the paperwork limbo!

We have finished all the paperwork in the Dossier process but we can't send it off until we get the I171H form back from Oklahoma. The form I171 H is the most important form of the Dossier. This is your approval to bring the child home. We will need to wait for this form in order to send the Dossier to the WA DC authentication.
Once we receive the form, our adoption agency will send the whole dossier to Washington where they will authenticate it as a whole. It will then go to Ethiopia directly from Washington. YEAH!!!
Now I just have to keep waiting for that darn form! Waiting, waiting, waiting.

Shout out!

Like a few of you, I felt I needed a blog facelift. I used a very talented young lady to help me with the process. You can find her work at: http://www.cutestblogontheblock.blogspot.com/ . Thanks Ashley. Hey, it's a better vice than botox and it looks great!
